What do dietitians actually eat?

Our Diabetes and Nutrition Team is filled with expert dietitians who help educate people on how to make great food choices every day.  Sure, they have advanced degrees and years of training, but have you ever wondered what they actually eat in a day?  Do they live off kale and eat a single pea as a snack? (Spoiler alert, nope!)

We challenged our dietitians to document what they eat for a whole day and share their food choices with the internet.

Here is what 4 of our fabulous dietitians eat in one day:

Dietitian Daily: #1 Kirsten

Breakfast:  I didn't have a lot of time, so I grabbed yogurt and an apple for a quick breakfast on the go

Lunch:  Fresh salad and toasted caprese sandwich on whole wheat

Snack: Carrots and hummus

Dinner: Homemade soup is my go-to comfort food when it gets cold  

Dietitian Daily: #2 Denise

Breakfast: Oatmeal with nuts and cranberries, milk and coffee

Snack #1: Chobani Low sugar yogurt

Lunch: Whole grain sour dough bread with cheddar cheese, veggie sticks and more coffee with milk

Snack #2: Carrots, dried fruit, and almonds

Dinner: Chantrelle mushroom burgers, tomato salad, roasted delica squash  

Dietitian Daily: #3 Leslie

Breakfast: a bit of omlette, LaBrea whole greain bread, yogurt, cottage cheese and berries

Lunch: When I haven't planned, it's LeBrea bread wiht adams peanut butter and a smear of organic blueberry jam

Dinner: Brussel Sprouts with spinach sauce, Coconut soup from Market of Choice, carrots, mandarin slices and blueberries.  I eat my veggies first and the fruit last so I end on something sweetStarbucks: I'm sorry, but NOT sorry!  

Dietitian Daily: #4 Tracy

Breakfast: Pumpkin spice steel cut oats with greek yogurt

Lunch: Hot and sour soup and leftover broccoli chicken stir fry

Dinner:Sardines over black rice, spinach salad, and the very last pear from my tree

All Day: Lots and lots of water to stay hydrated  

As you can see, these dietitians are choosing healthy, balanced meals but are also very human.  Whether you're constantly in a hurry, working with leftovers or need to make room in your plans for a caffeine pick-me-up, we've all been there!  Our team will help you achieve your goals or manage special dietary needs, like diabetes.  No judgement here, just helpful humans who are here to support and encourage you towards a healthier YOU!
