Pete Moore Hospice House provides respite for hospice patients displaced by smoke

The cloud of smoke encompassing the state of Oregon is particularly difficult on sensitive populations.  No group knows this better than Hospice patients with respiratory issues. Most hospice patients receive care in their own homes, but not all are able to adequately limit their exposure to the unprecedented levels of smoke. Thanks to the new Pete Moore Hospice House, we are able to provide a beautiful and welcome place of respite to these at-risk patients.

“Hospice care is focused on comfort and quality of life. Air quality has a significant impact on hospice patients with respiratory issues such as lung cancer or advanced COPD.  We are so honored to be able to offer a reprieve for these patients and their families” said Rachel Miller, RN who is the Pete Moore Hospice House Manager.

A recent patient’s daughter shared “We breathe a little easier knowing she has a team of hospice experts who know exactly how to help.  I get to just be her daughter instead of her caretaker and that means the world to me.”

Now these patients are breathing easier with clean, filtered air.
