Empowering Employees During Mental Health Awareness Month

Cascade Health’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is proud to partner with Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) during Mental Health Awareness Month this May. EWEB’s core values demonstrate their year-round commitment to supporting the physical & psychological wellness for their over 650 employees. By recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month with programming and resources, EWEB hopes to reduce stigmas and continue to empower employees.

“We love partnering with Cascade Health to support programs that are going to lead to improved wellbeing for our employees,” says Brittany Mortensen, EWEB Senior HR Partner. “Their team is very collaborative and worked with us closely to tailor videos, workshops, and resources to best meet our needs. They have helped us to be very intentional about how we are advocating for mental health awareness resources and psychological safety for our teams within a safe space.”

The month's offerings include short mental health “check-in" videos by Cascade Health EAP staff, initiatives like Grand Adventure Walking Challenge, and a Mental Health Day of Action with in-person and virtual sessions led by Cascade Health’s counselors. The Day of Action will also include a lunchtime vendor fair featuring community organizations and internal EWEB employee groups focused on promoting employee wellbeing.

“We look forward every year to working with EWEB on their Mental Health Awareness Month initiatives,” says Jodi DePaoli, Cascade Health EAP Manager. “They always bring great vision for what they hope to accomplish, and we enjoy collaborating on trainings that support the mental and emotional health of their staff. This year, we are excited about the extra training for supervisors on how to lead awareness of the impact managers have on their staff's emotional health. We are always impressed by how EWEB prioritizes their staff’s wellbeing!”
