Provider-to-Provider Hospice Education
Join us Friday, May 2
At Cascade Health, our mission as a nonprofit extends beyond providing compassionate end-of-life care - we’re also committed to educating our community, including health care providers, about hospice and its role in patient care.
For many, including medical professionals, hospice can be a difficult topic to discuss. Patients may hesitate, fearing it means "giving up," while providers sometimes struggle with the perception that they’ve "failed" to offer a cure. However, hospice is not about giving up - it’s about improving quality of life. Research shows that patients who enter hospice care often live longer and more comfortably than those who do not. The sooner a patient begins hospice, the more meaningful the impact can be.
When is the right time to refer a patient to hospice? How can health care professionals navigate these sensitive conversations? And what steps can be taken to ensure the best possible end-of-life experience?
To help answer these important questions, Cascade Health is hosting our first provider-to-provider education event, Hospice: Comfort, Compassion & Communication, on May 2 at the Pete Moore Hospice House. Led by Cascade Health Medical Director Dr. Kathleen Cordes and a team of experienced hospice providers, this event will equip health care professionals with essential knowledge, resources and communication tools to better support patients at the end of life. Topics will include when and how to refer a patient, available care options, and strategies for discussing hospice with patients and their families.
We invite you to attend all or some of the following sessions:
