Physical Therapist Assistant
Responsible to: Home Health Manager
Hours: 32 - 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 hours/day
Pay Range: $27.88 - 41.82
Job Summary:
Function as a member of the Home Care team, providing patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist in the patient’s place of residence. All care is provided in accordance with physician’s orders.
Education & License Requirements:
Current licensure in the State of Oregon as a Physical Therapist Assistant required. Valid CPR card required. Current driver’s license, insured vehicle for transportation, and a means of communication required.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Home Health experience preferred, and/or two years of inpatient or outpatient experience.
Essential Job Functions:
Follow the plan of care set by the physical therapist, implementing effective therapeutic interventions based on ongoing physical assessment, sound judgment, and psychological sensitivity.
Understand the home health and hospice philosophy and provide treatment to dying patients.
Utilize current standards of practice and follow departmental policies and procedures.
Comply with applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements governing their practice.
Maintain a high level of professional expertise and assume responsibility for professional growth and development.
Assist physical therapist in their essential job functions.
Move and transfer patients, meeting safety needs.
Administer treatments, working at a fast pace.
Deliver patient, caregiver, and family education.
Work independently, using good time management skills.
Exercise sound judgment.
Use clinical equipment and take vital signs.
Apply strong computer skills to complete electronic patient care documentation.
Communicate clearly and professionally using verbal, electronic, and written skills.
Participate in conferences, staff meetings, and in-services.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and delegate as needed.
Remain flexible and adjust to changes in schedule on a daily basis.
Perform CPR and respond to emergencies.
Develop good working relationships with referral sources.
Marginal Job Functions:
Answer phones and perform various clerical duties. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies. Light mechanics and instrument maintenance. Post and access schedule. Perform other duties as assigned.
