2024 Cheryl Boyum Award

Honoring Dr. Kirk D. Jacobson

The Cheryl Boyum Award, named for Cascade Health’s former CEO, honors those in our community who provide the highest level of support and care to individuals and their families in times of great need.

This year’s Boyum Award recipient is Dr. Kirk D. Jacobson of Oak Street Medical, who has provided decades of holistic, compassionate care for patients at every step of their health journey, from managing diabetes to end-of-life care. For more than 40 years, Dr. Jacobson has treated adults and children, teaching his patients about the complexities of their health. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and his commitment to the health of our community has stood out since he began practicing in 1979.

“We’re especially grateful for Dr. Jacobson’s collaborative spirit,” Cascade Health CEO Eric Van Houten said as he presented the award to Dr. Jacobson, “which has benefited Cascade Health as well as our many shared patients.”

Viet Tran, Regional Administrator of Praxis Health the independent health care network with which Oak Street Medical is affiliated, spoke glowingly of Dr. Jacobson’s “unwavering dedication to caring for patients through every stage of life.” In addition to providing direct care, Dr. Jacobson “inspires everyone within our organization—from nurses and medical students to allied health professionals, front office staff, and administrators—to elevate their abilities and treat every patient as if they are family.”
