Cascade Health’s Wellness Team: Keeping your Employees Healthy

Cascade’s Wellness Team: Deanne Galbraith Bain and Adrienne Royer, RN

Some of the busiest employees at Cascade Health this time of year are our Wellness team staff who provide flu shots, vaccine clinics, and biometric screening to hundreds of companies and thousands of employees throughout Lane County.

“We provide flu vaccines for between 100 to 200 employers around town,” says Adrienne Royer, RN, who along with medical assistant Deanne Galbraith Bain, staff the organization’s Wellness Nurse services. “It’s a big job, but it is very important – especially this year.”

Both Adrienne and Deanne urge everyone to get this season’s flu shot due to the additional risks posed by COVID-19. By getting a standard flu shot, people can greatly reduce their chances of getting the seasonal flu which displays many of the same symptoms as COVID-19.

In addition to flu shots, the team provides clinics to administer vaccines for hepatitis and tuberculosis, and also manages biometric screenings to test cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and other factors that can help determine risks for cardiac problems.

“Biometric screening can really help determine if an employee might be heading in a risky direction with their health, and we can help intervene,” says Adrienne. “Our services really align with the trend where more and more employers and taking an active role in keeping their employees healthy.”

Currently, Cascade Health is offering drop-in flu shot clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m.
